Joss Whedon needs more time with Eliza Dushku.
Hey, if we had those sorts of options, we'd need more time with Eliza Dushku as well.
Dushku, who played Faith in Whedon's smash hit Buffy The Vampire Slayer, is the star of his new series Dollhouse.
However, having watched the proposed pilot episode, Whedon has decided he needs to rethink things. Indeed, according to Whedon, he showed the pilot to master-of-weirdness David Lynch and Lynch's reaction was 'whuh?'
Although he may have been joking about the Lynch thing. Even so, it's time for a rethink.
'I think I can hit this nail on the head a little more solidly,' Whedon announced.
'There were a few clarity issues for some viewers.
'There were also some slight issues with tone — I was in a dark, noir kind of place...and didn't bring the visceral pop the network had expected from the script.'
Before you get agitated that Fox, the studio that previously killed off Whedon's last series Firefly, are interfering, Whedon only blames himself.
'I kinda have to slap my forehead that I didn't tailor my tone and structure to the network’s needs, since that's something I pride myself on.'
Whedon will now shoot a new pilot to set-up the series and the original pilot will now air as the second episode.
Either way, we don't care. It stars Eliza Dushku. And that is ALWAYS a very good thing.
