The US Open, which takes place at Pebble Beach between June 17-20, is the second of the four golf majors of 2010 with Tiger Woods returning to the scene of his record-breaking victory at the Californian venue in 2000.
The US Open follows the US Masters in the golf major with The Open and the USPGA the other two majors of the year.
It will be sixth time that the US Open, which is rotated around courses in the United States, will have been staged at Pebble Beach. Jack Nicklaus won the first-ever US Open at Pebble Beach in 1972 before Lanny Watkins (1977), Tom Watson (1982), Tom Kite (1992) and Woods added their names to the Roll of Honour.
Woods' victory 10 years ago set a new record for the US Open as he fired a lowest four-round total of 12 under par, the only time a player had struck a double-digit under par total. His 15-stroke winning margin remains the largest in the history of the tournament. That was only Woods' third major and his total has since ballooned to 14 in the decade since, including two more US Open titles in 2002 and 2008.
In US Open betting, despite his lack of time on the course Woods is vying for favouritism on his return to Pebble Beach along with Phil Mickelson, who won the US Masters at Augusta earlier in the year. Lee Westwood, winner of the St Jude Classic last week, is the third favourite.
American Lucas Glover is the defending US Open champion having won the 2009 tournament at Bethpage in New York.
