It’s a familiar story. Man films girlfriend dancing around in underwear. Man uploads video to Internet. Girlfriend becomes Internet phenomenon.
Usually though when this happens, the girlfriend in question is extremely embarrassed, the police get involved the man gets into a whole world of trouble. This time the girl in question, Lauren Bernat, was delighted with the result, and has even appeared on MTV in an interview.
Obviously now you’ve just typed Lauren Bernat into Google, and have probably found the YouTube video in question. If you haven’t, and because we like talking about it anyway, we’ll describe it. The video shows Lauren wearing nothing but her underwear (and a tiny set of panties they are too) dancing around on her Wii Fit, as she mimes doing the hoopla. Her pert bum wriggles hypnotically from side to side, while her lucky (yet slightly voyeuristic) boyfriend films her from the comfort of the sofa.
A short while later and the video is on YouTube. The funny thing is, the video goes viral to such a level (over 4 million views in a short while) that many people believed it was filmed by Nintendo as a viral TV advert.
Nintendo, in an attempt to distance themselves from the video, insist that they’ve nothing to do with it… though I’m sure they’re delighted with its success.
Since the video, Lauren Bernat has appeared on MTV, again insisting that the video was just the result of a pervert for a boyfriend rather than a clever marketing ploy from Nintendo.

So there is a new Tomb Raider game out soon. If anyone remembers the previous game in the series - it was below par and was pretty much universally slated, that won’t be any cause for celebration. However apparently the new Lara Croft game - Tomb Raider: Underworld- is the first Tomb Raider game built from the ground up for the next generation consoles, as opposed to something that has been hacked together from whatever bits of code were lying about I guess. But enough of all this talk of computer games, there is something far far better to talk about.
There is a new Lara Croft model and she is a 23 year old ex receptionist from Croydon who has been a display gymnast for 12 years and has represented Great Britain in competitions. Woo. So the new Tomb Raider is a 23 year old gymnast. We can’t complain about that choice.

Good stuff. Though whether or not this will make the game any good is another matter, but they’ve sold me on the concept already. Heck, I remember when Tomb Raider 2 was the bees knees - the Venice level was amazing!
