Casting continues to be announced for the comic book adaptation Kick Ass.

Nicolas Cage has joined Aaron Johnson who plays the lead in the story of the teenage super hero.

The 44-year-old star of Matchstick Men and Leaving Las Vegas will play a former cop whose aim is to bring down a drug dealing gangster.

The film centres on the story of a boy who decides to become a crime fighter while having no super powers or the typical troubled background of a Superman or Spiderman. His endeavours only begin to run into trouble when he encounters real villains.

Based upon the Mark Millar series, Kick Ass is being directed and produced by Matthew Vaughan who has brought the film to fruition against the odds.

The big studios refused to back the project due to its subject matter, yet Vaughan has persuaded private backer s to fund the movie.

‘Desperate Housewives’ star Lyndsy Fonseca also makes up part of the cast and shooting will start in the Autumn in London and Toronto.
