Scot hunk – it says here – Ewan McGregor is in talks to play the bad guy in The Da Vinci Code prequel, Angels and Demons.
The Hollywood Reporter advises that Ewan, currently underwhelming audiences in pants thriller Deception, is being lined up to star opposite Tom Hanks in the Vatican-set religious thriller, to be directed again by Ron Howard and produced by Brian Grazer.
Hanks is already onboard to reprise his role as Robert Langdon, the professor and puzzle solver, who in this book – like you haven't read it – tries to solve a murder and prevent the Illuminati blowing up the Vatican.
McGregor is in talks to play the Pope's closest aide Camerlengo Carlo Ventresca, also known as Janus. The love interest / sidekick this time round will be Vittorra, played by Israeli actress Ayelet Zurer who also brightened up Vantage Point and Munich.
Shooting begins in June when McGregor is due to wrap gay prison break comedy drama, I Love You Phillip Morris opposite Jim Carrey. No. Really.
