George talks Clone Wars

George: The Clone arranger
Lucas George

While we pretty much hated the last three Star Wars movies – and by last three we mean episodes I, II and III, of course (try and keep up) – we did enjoy the Clone Wars cartoons.

Happily George Lucas seems to agree. He's not making any more films with Hayden Christensen – a good rule of thumb for any Hollywood producer, in fact – but he is making more Clone Wars.

The bearded one was in Las Vegas to discuss the new series and the planned film adaptation and he revealed the depth of his plans to Empire.

The film is going to take place between episodes II and III and will be what Lucas calls 'a stylised cartoon.'

As Lucas explains, it won't be 'photo real...it's in a Gerry Anderson style, Thunderbirds. The characters have painted surfaces - they look like they've been painted.'

As to who will appear, well, that's everyone. 'Yoda, The Emperor... everybody that's in the features is in the animated series. It's just as if we took the feature and just continued it in an animation style.'

But no Hayden Christensen. 'No,' said George, who won't be using any of the real actors.

Lucas is also working on a live action series to sit alongside the films and the cartoons. Yes, the words 'horse', 'dead' and 'flog' sprung to our minds too but you never know.

'The live action show doesn't have any of the characters from the movies,' Lucas revealed. 'It takes place at the same time, between episodes three and four, but it doesn't have anything to do with the Skywalkers.

'You kind of hear about the Emperor, and it takes place in that world, but it's like you have the TV show 24 and the TV show The Wire; they're in the same place but they're two completely different things.'

And let's face it, it's got to be better than that old Christmas special.
