It's a sad day in Hollywood with the premature deaths of two stars, namely Isaac Hayes and Bernie Mac.
Hayes, 65, and an Oscar winner for his classic Theme From Shaft, was found unresponsive near a treadmill at his home by a member of his family.
He was rushed to hospital in Memphis but was pronounced dead an hour later. The cause of death has not been announced.
In recent years, Hayes had become known as the voice of Chef in South Park although he parted company with the cartoon when it made fun of Scientology in a 2006 episode.
However you feel about that – and we probably agree with creator Matt Stone's comment that 'In 10 years and over 150 episodes of South Park, Isaac never had a problem with the show making fun of Christians, Muslim, Mormons or Jews' – Hayes was a musical pioneer and will be sadly missed.
Also going to be sadly missed is Bernie Mac, the comedian and actor who died in hospital at the weekend. He was only 50.
Mac had recently been hospitalised for pneumonia and had been reported as being in a stable condition.
Again, the cause of death has not been confirmed. 'The world just got a little less funny,' said George Clooney, Bernie's Ocean's 11, 12 and 13 co-star.
'He will be dearly missed.'
