Matt Damon won't be making films this summer.

No, he's not a ring leader for the possible actors strike. He's trying to shed 30lbs.

Because he had to add 30lbs for his latest role in Steven Soderbergh's based-on-a-true-story whistleblowing drama The Informant.

In that film, Damon plays Mark Whitacre, the man who blew the lid on a food additive price fixing scandal... Yeah, we know, it doesn't sound as exciting as Bourne but let's give 'em a chance, eh?

Damon, the Sexiest Man Alive (according to People magazine), begins shooting his next film – military drama Green Zone – in six weeks and will spend the interim boxing.

'If you put it on, it's easier to get it back off.

'I'm just boxing,' he added. 'I figure if you get hit enough times, it will fall off' before joking that he's now 'the Sexiest Man Alive's chunky cousin.'

When Green Zone wraps, Damon will take the rest of the year off to promote his new children's charity, the One X One Foundation, and 'hang out with the family'.

The growing family, in fact: Damon's wife Luciana is expecting a baby girl, a younger sister to the couple's other daughter Isabella, one, and Luciana's eldest Alexia, nine.

'I'm so outnumbered down here, it's crazy,' Damon told US Today. You think it's bad now mate, wait 10 years and try and use a bathroom.
