The troubled Ridley Scott project Nottingham has been given a much needed kick up the arse with the news that Russell Crowe will play the Sherriff of Nottingham AND his nemesis Robin Hood.

Furthermore Sienna Miller is set to braid her barnet to play Hood’s love interest Maid Marian.

The project had been in stagnation after producers realised that there would not be enough time to get scenes in the can before the Autumn. The lush leaves of Sherwood Forest would have turned from green to brown – a cinematographers nightmare no doubt.

There was also no actor cast as Robin Hood, at one point Sam Riley (Control) was mooted to ransack the rich with his band of merry men.

Director Ridley Scott was delighted to confirm Russ would be taking both leads, no doubt after some technical jiggery-pokery.

‘He’s playing both! (It will be) a good old clever adjustment of characters. One becomes the other. It changes,’ said Scott.

Maybe Russ can sing the theme tune as well?

God forbid if it spends nineteen weeks at No1.
