So Terminator: Salvation director McG has had a ‘blessing’ from legendary director of the first two Arnie-led Terminator flicks, James Cameron?
Well not quite, despite playing the Cameron-card to frenzied fanboys at geek-fest Comic Con, apparently it was all – well a bit of a porky.
Cameron who is currently in the middle of rewriting the rules of cinema shooting his 3D, motion capture, and probably smell-o-vision epic Avatar has felt the need to distance himself from all the hoop-la.
‘It could be a big steaming pile or it could be brilliant. Sam Worthington is in Avatar and the new Terminator and he likes the script, but I never saw it. There was no blessing involved,’ said Cameron.
So has McG been a naughty boy? Probably, or did Jim remember that he sold all the rights to the Terminator away for a buck so bigwig producers would let him direct the first flick.
If the flick is a success there will be something steaming, a great big pile of cash with somebody’s name on it.
And it won’t be James Cameron.
