Will Smith is going to be battling vampire zombies again.

Well, possibly.

The I Am Legend star is reported to be interested in a prequel to the smash hit sci-fi thriller, if they can get it sorted.

According to BreakingNews, director Francis Lawrence is working on that very idea at the moment.

'Absolutely,' announced Lawrence when asked if there would be a follow-up film, 'we're actually trying to crack that.

'We're trying to figure out some ideas for it, but yes, it would be a prequel.'

Well, given that Smith's character dies at the end of the first one, it would have to be.

And apologies if you haven't watched it yet.

Lawrence also revealed that he liked the idea of a prequel because he wouldn't have to shut down New York City again – although he did get pretty good at it.

The first time you go out there and shut down 6th Avenue, it's like, “How are we going to do this day after day after day?” But by the end, it's just like you know how to do it.

Which is always a good thing to have on your CV.
