50 Cent? Or $300m?

Fiddy: In da money
cent

It's a good time to be a rapper.

Jay Z is headlining Glastonbury. Ice T is performing in unusual circumstances (more on that in a second). And Curtis Jackson – aka 50 Cent, or possibly Fiddy Cent, we're really not sure any more – is rumoured to be signing a deal with Rupert Murdoch worth, apparently, $300m.

Or about £167m of real money.

Mr Cent is in talks to sell a big chunk of his G-Unit label and assorted other merchandise to News Corp, who own MySpace among many other things. If they agree terms, G-Unit and the label's artists will move onto MySpace Records.

Best of all? Some reports suggest that around 50 per cent of the deal is in News Corp stock, which will make 50 Cent one of the biggest shareholders... which would liven up the AGM considerably.

Now, Ice T – who we won’t refer to as Mr T for comedic effect.

Apart from that once.

The chunky rapper turned actor is going back to music next month for a performance at Indiana's Hilbert Circle Theatre.

However, he won't be rapping. This time he's narrating.

The performance will see ol' T recite US poet Langston Hughes' Ask your Mama: 12 Moods for Jazz while the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra will provide the score.

'It is a great honour,' said T, to allhiphop.com.

It's a big bloody surprise as well, mate.
