Michael Jackson continues to descend from the sublime to the ridiculous.
Just when you thought the once gifted and immensely talented superstar couldn’t get any more weird, he has decided to record a modern day take on the work of Robert Burns.
Even more bizarrely, he is collaborating on the album with fellow weirdo and ‘friend’ David Gest.
They both claim that the legendary Burns is their ‘favourite poet in the world’.
Obviously there is no connection between this announcement and Jacko’s 50th birthday today! Surely not.
However we are not the only ones a little concerned at the prospect of these two eccentrics getting their hands on the work of the great Scottish bard.
David Baird, president of the Southern Scottish Counties Burns Association, told the BBC that ‘The idea of turning Burns’ tunes and songs which he carefully collected, into ‘show tunes’ just kind of grates a wee bit.’
Understatement of the year so far we feel!
