Leona riles Wombats

Straw poll. Who can name a Wombats song? Yeah, that’s what we thought.

However, the Scouse band were up for the UK Favourite Act gong at next week’s MTV Europe Awards.

But they’ve lost out to Leona Lewis. You know. The one who can sing songs that people have heard of.

The Wombats have taken it all in good spirits though... Nah.

Who are we kidding? They’re riled as only a band named after a small furry beastie can be.

So they’re going to do a thrash version of Bleeding Love at the ceremony while wearing t-shirts declaring ‘We were robbed’. Ooh yeah, that’ll teach Leona to be talented and popular.

‘It’s going to be a brilliantly ridiculous performance,’ revealed a source.

‘I think they’ll steal the show.’ And it doesn’t stop there, oh no.

The Wombats are also aiming to release a Christmas single to beat the X Factor winner. Yeah, right.

Mind you, they do have a secret weapon or two to ensure Is This Christmas? gets a chance at success.

The release will be in aid of Mencap – and Les Dennis stars in the video.

Doesn’t quite seem enough to beat the clout of Simon Cowell and 10 million viewers though.
