Arctic Monkeys’ drummer Matt Helders is opening a pub.
Together with the band’s former bassist Andy Nicholson, Helders has taken over Sheffield bar The Bowery and they’re relaunching it as a bar and music venue.
‘It'll be like going to your favourite local boozer, but in the centre of town,’ the duo said on their website.
Provided, of course, you live in Sheffield. If you don’t, it’s like, er, going to a pub in another town.
‘The Bowery will be a hang out for people who want to avoid the meat market nonsense of city centre bars,’ they continued.
Which is ironic given that their biggest hit – that Dancefloor one – is about pulling.
The pub / bar / venue officially opens in three weeks on Sept 20 and there are no prizes for guessing who’ll be headlining the launch event.
Probably.
‘Matt and Andy have had their eye on setting up a pub for ages,’ a source told the Telegraph. ’When the property came on the market they had to have it.
‘It's perfect, Matt puts in most of the money and Andy can DJ there and manage it when Matt is off touring. All the boys can relax their and bring their friends to jam.’
But not pull. It’s not that kind of place. Alright?
