Last week we reported that Verve lead singer Richard Ashcroft wanted to go solo again – and how he made his announcement a couple of weeks before their reunion album was even out.
Now it looks like the band's V Festival headline slot is under threat. The reformed – and excellent band – were scheduled to headline the same festival in 1998 but nearly missed it when guitarist Nick McCabe walked out days before the show.
McCabe and Ashcroft are said to have a real love / hate relationship with Ashcroft and, following the band's recent gruelling tour schedule, and Japanese promo work, McCabe is said to be on the verge of walking out again.
Ahscroft's recent comments probably didn't help either.
A source revealed that 'Nick is suffering exhaustion from the touring. He has been staying up late getting stuck into the wild lifestyle again and it has taken its toll.'
According to reports today, Nick cut his hand in Japan and will be on stage but bandaged up. We wait and see...
