Remember Guns N' Roses?

They were a popular beat combo in the 90s and have taken the phrase 'difficult comeback album' to the nth degree.

The band – well, singer Axl Rose, who's the only remaining member these days – have been working on their 'new' album Chinese Democracy for over a decade with costs now estimated at $15m plus.

And it will be released later this year.

Or possibly not.

All we can say for sure is that Kevin Cogill probably won't be released this year.

Cogill's the 27-year old blogger who, in June, got hold of nine Guns N' Roses tracks apparently from the new album and he posted them on his website, antiquiet.com.

With it being the web, the songs found their way onto many other sites as well.

Strangely, the band took offence at this leak (though god knows they need the publicity), the federal authorities stepped in and yesterday Cogill was arrested for violating copyright laws.

According to the arrest affidavit, Cogill has admitted posting the songs. We await his sentence with interest because there's still a decent chance he'll be out before Chinese Democracy...
