We like Paul Bettany. He’s a fine actor.
We just like his other half, Jennifer Connelly, that little bit more. She’s just fine.
Happily, Paul’s new film Creation will also feature his missus. As his wife. That’ll be a stretch then.
The couple have signed up to play Charles Darwin and Emma Darwin in Creation, Jon Amiel’s new film about the controversial author of ‘On The Origin of Species’.
Maybe in the course of his research he can find out why Jennifer’s curves disappeared? That was the sort of evolution we don’t like.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the film will change people’s thinking of Darwin as an old beardy scientist.
‘The reality of our story is very different,’ explained producer Jeremy Thomas. ‘John Collee's compelling script tells the remarkable story behind Darwin's revolutionary theory and the foundation of a book that changed the world.’
Basically, it’s going to show Darwin as a man torn between his God-denying theory of evolution and his love for his deeply religious wife.
Sounds meaty and it could be very interesting… but it also means Jennifer’s going to be in high collars and acting all prudish. Boo.
Nurse! Our copy of Mulholland Drive, if you please…
