Posh comes to shove

Posh pounds Paris. Oh-er

Paris Hilton has been beaten by Victoria Beckham. Sadly it wasn't a full-on rumble in the streets, or even a mud-wrestle for charity.

It's all about the battle for the paparazzi. Paris is in London to... well, do whatever it is Paris Hilton does, we guess, which narrows it down to having sex while her boyfriend films it, appearing in a rubbish movie or releasing a dodgy single.

Or working in a fast food restaurant with Nicole Richie and 'accidentally' messing it all up. Anyway, Paris left the Dorchester – she didn't stay in the London Hilton, possibly because it's her cousin or something – and was expecting the usual barrage of flashbulbs and 'overhere, Paris!'

But it was all noticeably quiet and flash-free. Sadly, this isn't an indication that Hilton's 15 minutes of fame is up, more an indication that Victoria Beckham was a mile or so away launching her denim range in Harrod's.

Talking to the Sun, Posh revealed that she was delighted to have been given the chance to show what she can do with jeans. 'I’m getting a chance from really cool, credible people in a cool career.'

While you ponder just how cool and credible Mohamed Al Fayed is, ponder Posh's closing statement as well. 'If you work really hard it happens.'

Although in our experience, it still doesn't happen quite as quickly as it does if you're, say, a former Spice Girl and married to one of the most recognisable men on the planet.

Bitter? Twisted? Us? Damn right.
