Scrubs is coming back. Yes, we know, we know. This news slot usually features Britney's latest incident or Lindsay Lohan's nipples.
But Zach Braff has confirmed that shooting has begun on an eighth season of Scrubs. And that's good news however you cut it. Last year, NBC announced that the hospital-themed comedy would be drawing to a close after seven series.
The final episodes of that are currently airing in the US but it appears rival channel ABC have decided to make an eighth series. There's no formal announcement as yet, but the show's star, Zach Braff, leaked the news about a further 18 episodes, on his MySpace page.
In a manner of speaking. 'I've just been informed that I'm not allowed to talk about anything related to Scrubs and its current fate,' he wrote. 'What I can tell you is that we are currently shooting 18 episodes for the eighth season.
I am not allowed to discuss where one might watch them.' Braff, who also directs many episodes, reckons a recent show was 'the coolest episode we've ever done'.
'I directed it and it's a GIANT homage to The Princess Bride,' he explained. 'Dr Cox has to make up a fairy tale for his son and he does so using everything that happened in the hospital that day.
'It's by far the most epic (and expensive) episode we've ever done.' Quite what's happened to Scrubs on terrestrial channels is still a mystery – anyone? Any ideas? - but those with Freeview can at leats watch it about 87 times a day on E4 or More4 or M4 etc.
