Guy Richie can dance.
That’s the verdict of Thandie Newton, the femme fatale lead of Richie’s new movie Rocknrolla.
And if anyone should know, it’s trained dancer Thandie.
The film features a slightly bizarre sequence where the delectable Ms Newton gets to shimmy with co-star Gerard Butler. In a slightly bizarre way – and much to Thandie’s delight.
‘I trained to dance for years and years and this was just delicious being able to throw it all away,’ Thandie told LivingTV, ‘and just flop about, with this deadpan face.
‘Guy demonstrated how he wanted it, what he wanted from the scene and I got it straight away, I could just visualise this kind of floppy, puppet dancing with the dead pan face and these little whispers of dialogue. It was great.’
Sadly there’s no filmed evidence of Guy strutting his funky, er, floppy stuff.
‘Mind you, if there was, he’s good,’ revealed Thandie. ‘He’s really good. That’s because he’s a martial arts expert. Well, not expert, but that’s his thing and he’s very good at it. You can tell he knows how to move.’
And, of course, he has the potential for dance lessons from the missus.
‘I doubt that very much!’ laughed Thandie.
So do we. But what a lovely visual.
