Back when Kelly and Tom were heores

OK, every pre-pubescent boy, child of the 80s and gay man wants it to happen and rumours are now circulating that Top Gun 2 may be on the cards.

The 1986 planes and no-brains action flick made a mega star out of Tom ‘Maverick’ Cruise and gave the world a whole new variety of stilted macho movie dialogue.

And now an ‘insider’ tells the Sun, Cruise is seriously thinking about making a second film to sprinkle some magic dust on his glister-free current career.

‘The idea is Maverick is at the Top Gun school as an instructor - and this time it is he who has to deal with a cocky new female pilot,’ the insider is quoted as saying.

And we bet she’s a bit of a looker; untamed, wild, dangerous and brilliant. In fact, just like Maverick was, except she’s got lady lungs.

And her wingman can be a dependable, straight, sort of a guy, non threatening and married, who dies and makes her see… Sorry, getting carried away there.

But on a slow movie news day, Top Gun sequel stories can speed faster than a Mach II Tomcat fighter plane.

Hang on, did we say TomKat? Tom as the instructor and Katie Holmes as the cocky new female pilot, hell bent on proving herself to be the best, overcoming her fears and hidden secrets, to find...
