Monkeying around

It has been a little while since rock‘n’rollers acted like, well, rock’n’rollers so thank the air-guitar gods for the Arctic Monkeys and the Kooks.

The Arctics are the established big hitters with worldwide success. The Kooks are the emerging force, cooler and hipper and on the Monkey’s case.

And the Mirror tells us they have been feuding for a year over a guitar. In true hardnut rocking style, Kooks’ Luke Pritchard kicked Monkey-man Alex Turner in the head after he tried to unplug his guitar during a gig.

Luke said: ‘We've had a weird relationship with the Arctics since we first met. I had to kick Alex in the face because he was trying to pull the leads out of my guitar pedals while we were on stage.

‘We had done so many shows back to back with them, and it just escalated.’

And he’s even tried to mend some fences: ‘I saw them recently in a studio and tried to patch things up. I asked Alex if he wanted to have a bit of a jam in the studio, but he just turned his back and walked away.’ Ooh the bitch.

‘I suppose they are quite arrogant - but who can blame them. They've got a lot going for them.’

Not that Luke doesn’t have a few things going for him after he dated TV presenter Fearne Cotton while in parallel, Turner has been doing the Bobby Charlton’s with T4 star Alexa Cheung.

Used to be rock stars bagged actresses and models but now they all hang out back stage at Blue Peter.
