Liverpool joined Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea in the Champions League quarter-finals to make it an ‘awesome foursome’ for Premier League sides in Europe’s biggest competition.
The Reds, defending a 2-0 lead at the San Siro were impressive, belying their inconsistent League form.
Red-hot striker Fernando Torres scored his eighth goal in five games to send Italian Giants Inter Milan crashing out of the competition.
‘This win shows the power and strength of the Premier League,’ said jubilant boss Rafa Benitez.
‘We have fine clubs who are among the best in Europe, a league that is the same and players of quality who are some of the best in Europe.’
It’s a first as no country has ever had four sides in the quarter-finals of Europe's top club competition before.
The draw for the quarters will be held on Friday in Nyon, Switzerland.
The Premier League big-guns will join Barcelona (no thanks), Roma (if you must), Fenerbahce (tricky away tie) and Schalke (yes please) in the hat.
The matches will take place on April 1-2 and April 8-9.
