Would the last person at Tottenham please turn off the lights?
According to the back pages, Robbie Keane is eyeing a move to Liverpool while unsettled benchwarming striker Darren Bent is wanted at Sunderland.
Roy Keane is apparently willing to empty Sunderland's coffers and offer Spurs £12m and Bent a club record £50k a week for his signature.
Rafa Benitez, on the other hand, is apparently prepared to offer Peter Crouch plus £5m for the £20m rated Keane.
Crouch would thus enjoy a regular North London booing every time he missed a sitter while Keane would thus enjoy Champions League football alongside – possibly – Gareth Barry.
Barry is the other big target this summer for Rafa Benitez but the Liverpool manager is only prepared to offer £17m for the young England player. Ha! Only?!
Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill wants £18m for his captain, but seems unlikely to get it. Barry also appears to want out, with Steven Gerrard urging him to move to Anfield and Barry furious, apparently, that Martin O'Neill had time to be a BBC pundit during Euro 2008 but didn't find time to ring his skipper.
'There’s no going back, it’s time for me to move,' Barry's reportedly said.
£17m it is then? Probably.
