An Italian prosecutor is gunning for England boss Fabio Capello for allegedly withholding information in a corruption trial.
Capello who recently suffered his first defeat as England manager against France is in Rome to give evidence at the trial of former Juventus general director Luciano Moggi.
Moggi is one of six men accused of conspiring to control transfers by intimidating players into signing for a sports management firm.
Public Prosecutor Luca Palamara targeted Capello for allegedly withholding information. The likely scenario is a fine for Fab – but whatever the outcome it couldn’t be worse timing for Italian who is looking to forge a respectable career in England.
Capello is said to be furious by the implications of dishonesty and subsequent embarrassment it has brought upon his new employers the FA.
Continuing the corruption theme, Porto are under investigation for match fixing.
The Portuguese giants are accused of fixing two domestic fixtures in the 2003-04 season by the Portuguese League.
The matches concerned were under the tenure of former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho although he is in no way implicated and does not feature in any of the league’s reports.
