Alex Ferguson Trophy

At the age of 66 there seems no stopping Sir Alex Ferguson, on Monday night he bagged the prestigious League Managers Award in addition to the Premier League title he secured on Sunday.

‘It is a tremendous honour that my fellow managers should deem me worthy of this award,’ said Ferguson.

‘I'm very proud to receive it. ‘The mood generated by the win puts us in a very confident position,’ added Ferguson.

‘I expect my players to have the ability and confidence to play on the biggest stage in the world; of that I have absolutely no doubt.’

Ryan Giggs echoed Fergie’s sentiments; he will be looking to break Sir Bobby Charlton’s all time appearance record in Moscow.

‘Confidence is high because we have a fit squad to choose from,’ said Giggsy.

‘The players will be kicking lumps out of each other over the next week to try to get into the team. That’s good for the team because we’ll all be eager to get picked and to play well.

‘We’ll celebrate the title and then start getting ready for the game in Moscow.’

Chelsea fans will breathe a big sigh of relief as Didier Drogba declared himself and captain John Terry fit for the Champions League final clash with Manchester United.

The Ivory Coast striker told French newspaper L'Equipe there was ‘nothing serious’ about the knock he picked up against Bolton.

And of captain Terry, Drog added: ‘I have spoken to him. He will play in Moscow. No-one wants to miss this gigantic match.’

Chelsea also secured the services of Porto and Portugal right-back Jose Bosingwa for £16.5m on Monday in their first big post-season transfer move.
