Fabregas: Scouse triple whammy

Liverpool and Arsenal will face-off in the Champions league quarter finals as they were paired together at the draw in Nyon, Switzerland.

Manchester United and Chelsea managed to avoid each other and they will face AS Roma and Fenerbahce respectively.

Spanish big-guns drew Schalke to complete the draw, matches are to be played 1/2 April, with the return leg 8/9 April.

The draw throws up some interesting permutations; the winner of the Liverpool v Arsenal clash will face the winners of Chelsea v Fenerbahce.

If Manchester United can negotiate AS Roma, they will face the winners of Barcelona v Schalke.

The thought of an all English final in Moscow is a mouth-watering prospect, Manchester United have been instilled as early favourites at 3/1 with Barcelona and Chelsea at 7/2 and Arsenal and Liverpool at 6/1.

It was probably inevitable that there was to be an all Premier League clash; however there is an added twist for the neutral as Arsenal and Liverpool go head-to-head in the league between their quarter-finals draw.

There is a lot at stake in Europe this season especially with Rafa Benitez and Avram Grant looking down the barrel. With four sides in the mix the omens are good for England but it could all go horribly wrong, but what about a cheeky bet on an outsider - Roma are an attractive 9/1.
