Former Wimbledon boss Joe Kinnear has steeped in as interim manager of Newcastle in a sensational twist at St James’.
Newcastle owner Mike Ashley is close to selling the club and Kinnear will take charge of managerial affairs in the short term until the takeover completed and a permanent boss is put in place.
Geordies have little to complain about as Kinnear intimated that his reign may only last a couple of months until a successor is presented by the potential new owners.
What is even more exciting is that Kinnear hinted at a return for Kevin Keegan and possible involvement from the Magpies favourite son Alan Shearer.
‘I am aware that the new owners have Kevin Keegan and possibly Alan Shearer parked around the corner,’ said Kinnear.
‘I understand investors are about to buy the club, (current owner) Mike Ashley told me openly. I will be here for six to eight games.’
It is believed a Nigerian Consortium are front runners to take over the club from Mike Ashley.
Kinnear, a Nigerian Consortium, a possible return for Kevin Keegan AND Alan Shearer never a dull moment in Toonland.
