Murray: See you later
Murray Andy

Andy Murray’s brief love affair with Wimbledon is over after a hammering by No2 seed Rafael Nadal.

The 21-year-old Scot was completely outclassed by the mercurial Spaniard as he crashed to a straight sets 6-3 6-2 6-4 defeat in just one hour and 55 minutes.

‘He played so much better than me. I don't feel I played my best, but regardless he was playing too well for me,’ said the British number one.

‘His forehand was ridiculous. He was hitting the ball so close to the line and I felt rushed on every point.’

Murray refused to blame fatigue after his epic fourth round clash with Richard Gasquet.

‘I felt like I recovered well. I didn't feel like my legs were all that heavy. That had absolutely no bearing on the result at all.’

Murray won many new fans after clawing back a two set deficit against the Frenchman to secure a clash with Nadal.

But it’s Nadal marches on and a second consecutive final with Roger Federer is on the cards.

The king of clay looks increasingly more comfortable on grass with an astonishing array of shots to compliment the strongest forehand in the business.

On the back of his Wimbledon progress, Murray should move into the world top 10 and has come on leaps and bounds in the last year.

He has always maintained the hard court of the US Open is his favourite surface. He’s got a great chance.
