Owen in Fab rift

If Owen-ly he would pick me
Fabio Capello snow

Out of favour striker Michael Owen could alienate himself further from Fabio Capello’s new England order after claiming he was none the wiser after being quizzed about the Italian's game plan.

‘In terms of what he is trying to do, you'd best ask the manager, said a gruff Owen.

‘Every player wants to play, but for now I'm not.’

Owen has struggled for form and fitness after a cruciate ligament injury suffered at the World Cup but believes he has done enough since his recovery to be first choice striker.

‘I hope the manager knows what I am about. I am sure he has seen me play,

‘I scored a couple against Russia and one against Israel and Estonia. I only played one more game, Russia away when we got beat, so I did all right in qualifying and I am sure he has seen me play before.’

Another striker whom many believe is past his best is Ronaldinho, The Sun and The Mirror both report that the once talismanic Barcelona striker could be heading to White Hart Lane.

Ronaldinho’s agents have already met with Spurs and it’s believed that Barca could let him go for as little as £12m.

Spurs boss Juande Ramos has already endorsed the plan and believes the Brazilian would make the perfect strike partner for Dimitar Berbatov.

Ramos said: 'Ronaldinho would fit into Spurs in every respect.

‘The truly great players fit into any team, including Tottenham.’

The Premier League is till behind La Liga and Serie A as first choice destination for truly world class players in their prime, Ronaldinho would be still be a welcome addition to a league which is suffering from an image crisis.

Roy Keane is the latest big name to wade in on the big talking point of respect in the top flight.

Keano is no stranger to controversy and believes certain unnamed managers are hypocritical over their demands for referee respect.

‘There are a lot of hypocrites out there, said Keane.

‘The same bosses talking about players showing respect have been sent off themselves for abusing officials.’

But what would Roy say, he couldn’t possibly concur, as a player he would often intimidate referees.

Watch out Roy! You are fast becoming the Premier league’s rent-a-gob, concentrate on your job or you could be looking at becoming the Championship’s rent-a-gob next season.
