Ramos on the brink

Ramos: Under pressure
ramoss

Spurs, a club in crisis? Let’s look at the facts. It’s their worst start to a league campaign in 53 years.

They have sold three strikers, Dimitar Berbatov, Jermaine Defoe and Robbie Keane and despite shelling out for the capable Roman Pavlyuchenko, they can’t work out a system to accommodate him.

And even worse, the fans are turning against Juande Ramos, a manager who has a record poorer than the reviled Christian Gross.

‘Absolutely, we speak regularly (with the Board) and everyone is aware of our delicate position,’ said Ramos.

‘Whether I survive is something for the chairman and the board to decide but I'm not hurt (by the fans' abuse). What hurts is not winning matches.’

Is Ramos bothered? He should be. Spurs are one of the ‘big five’ a moniker that has stuck before the conception of the Premier League.

Spurs are now bottom of the table - worse off than crisis club Newcastle, - who have no owner, manager, confidence…nothing…except two more points than Ramos’ men.

And ‘Cup King’ Ramos has a UEFA Cup tie to deal with on Thursday.

Spurs take a 2-1 lead to Wisla Krakow, if things go wrong it could be time to re-think that ‘top 5’ tag.

And a new manager to boot.
