Are Real Madrid about to bid for Cesc Fabregas?

According to the News of the World, the Spanish giants have conceded defeat to Alex Ferguson as far as Cristiano Ronaldo goes.

So they've switched their attention to Arsenal's brilliant Spanish midfielder.

And, let's face it, Fabregas made a lot more impact at Euro 08.

According to sources, Fabregas wants at least one more season at Arsenal but given the Real coffers and determination, that's not necessarily a deterrent.

Arsene Wenger may be telling Real – and Barcelona who are apparently also interested – that the player isn't going anywhere but if they're willing to spend £70m on Ronaldo, who knows how strong that resolve is likely to be.

Whether Cesc stays or goes, Chelsea boss Phil Scolari is in no doubt who's going to win the Premiership.

And he also modestly tips his side for FA Cup, Carling Cup and Champions League success.

'We have four competitions this season and I will try to win them all,' he said.

'Of course it will be very difficult. But we have the players to do it. And in my life I have learned one important lesson — never say never.

'Last year this team arrived in two finals and came close in the league. That is very good news for me.'

Although clearly it wasn't such good news for Avram Grant.
