No, the best story of the morning? Manchester City are trying to sign Ronaldo.

No, not THAT Ronaldo. The buck-toothed Brazilian one. The strange haircut one.

Yeah, alright. The fat one.

City have been after a superstar for sometime and they're reportedly in touch with the pie-loving striker who was released by AC Milan in the summer.

Ronaldo is currently recovering from a severed knee tendon and is expected to be out of action until November. City are now said to be investigating the extent of the problem before taking the deal any further.

They'll also be expecting the portly player to lose his excess flab and get fit before they push for a signature.

Ronaldo's wages are expected to be generous but on a match-by-match basis.

Under pressure City boss Mark Hughes is aware of the moves being made and is resigned to them: these days it's all about the money.

'The club is looking to make its mark in a wider area.,' he told the Sun. 'Signing a big-name player would possibly help that and would help me.

'But it won’t help the team if you just buy lads at the back end of their career just looking for a final payday.

'They won’t get anywhere near my team if they are not capable of helping it.

'We are trying to move the club forward on all fronts. If I feel a player can’t make an impact on the team, it does not matter who he is — he won’t be coming.'
