Soon to be ousted Manchester City boss Sven Goran Eriksson is being courted by Portuguese giants, Benfica.
Sven has managed Benfica on two previous occasions and the Beeb believe that the stack-heeled Swede could be headed back to the Super Liga in the summer.
BBC hacks understand that Eriksson has been told he will be sacked at the end of the season and Brazilian Luiz Felipe Scolari has been approached as a replacement.
Sven added fuel to the fire of his departure after being filmed leaving a Manchester Hotel with Benfica staff.
Meanwhile, Kevin Keegan could find himself in hot water with Newcastle owner Mike Ashley after his recent comments that the Geordies can hope for fifth spot at best under his tenure.
The Sun report that King Kev has been summoned to Ashley’s boardroom in London to personally explain his comments and discuss the transfer kitty and Michael Owen’s outstanding contract among other points.
Kev previously said that his relationship with Ashley was sound as ‘he never speaks to him.’
It’s unlikely that Kev will be heading the same way as Sven but when you’re managing a rich man’s play thing – the toys seems to leave the pram at an alarmingly frequent rate.
