Portugal's flair and speed was undone by a grimly efficient German side last night. And it's basically good news for Chelsea.

With Portugal out, new boss Luiz Felipe Scolari is now free to join the club while the German performance was masterminded by Michael Ballack, the player Scolari is apparently planning to build his Chelsea side around.

The pie-eating England midfielder is said to be Inter's number one transfer target this summer.

Also affected by the end of his European Championships, Cristiano Ronaldo is now talking to press about the Real rumours. And it's not good for United fans.

'The possibilities of me going to Madrid are great but it does not depend on me,' said the winger. 'I know there is a concrete offer on the table, now let’s see if we can reach a deal in the next days.

'Everyone knows what I want. I have many desires and in the next days they will become clear.'

United maintain that they're not selling. However, with a rumoured £80m world record fee coming their way, you wonder how they can resist.
