Wright time to move

Wright-Phillips: Pompey bound

It's exciting times at Chelsea. Scolari in the hot seat, Deco already on board, Ronaldinho and Eto'o rumoured to be on the way... Who could possibly complain?

Other than existing Chelsea players of course. Particularly the good ones who've barely had a look in of late.

Such as Chelsea's 2005, £21m signing Shaun Wright-Phillips.

Although to give Avram his due, he probably took one look at Shaun and assumed he was a ballboy.

Shaun's dad, Ian Wright, reckons Shaun should read the writing on the wall and get out while he can. Particularly if Harry Redknapp formally offers a move to Portsmouth.

'I think Portsmouth would be a good move for Shaun,' the quiet, retiring Ian told the Sun. 'He's won a lot of medals and has done well at Chelsea.

'But he could go somewhere like Portsmouth and completely resurrect his career.

'Shaun can get people talking about him again like they used to when he was at City.

'He's only shown flashes of what he can do at Chelsea. But if he's playing regularly I think he can light up the Premier League again because he's a quality player.

'And I'm not just saying that because he's my son. He's very good footballer technically, he has a lot of drive and passion, and he works very hard for the team.'

Redknapp has said that he'll wait to see what Scolari's verdict is but would be willing to swoop for the benchwarming midfielder.

'I haven't spoken to anyone at Chelsea. But I like Shaun, he's a terrific talent.  Of course he's the type of player I would love to have.'
