The former top gear TV host, Jeremy Clarkson, has come under fire for poking fun at the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle‘s controversial interview with Oprah Winfrey. The episode which was aired last month got people talking. This is because the host of the new ITV show said that Pierce Morgan ‘had a point. Everybody is aware of the caustic comments the controversial Great Britain Morning TV host has made about the American Actress.

The Morgan Controversy

Following Meghan Markle’s interview with Oprah Winfrey, the whole of the United Kingdom was shocked at the revelations made by the Duchess. The former good morning British host Piers event went so far as to say that he didn’t believe Meghan’s claims that she had suicidal thoughts while pregnant with her son Archie. More than 57000 people following this insensitive comment had complained to the broadcasting watchdog Ofcom about Morgan’s behaviour.

Piers quit the breakfast show following the backlash. It was also revealed that Megan herself had formerly complained to ITV for his insensitive comments.

The joke did not land in Jeremy’s Show.

Jeremy Clarkson’s show on ITV ‘It’s Clarkson on TV’ also did not do favourably when you try to comment on this event. A segment of the 60-year old’s show was commenting on popular TV events heartbeat about the famous interview seen by more than 11 million people in the UK.

Minutes into this new show, Clarkson could not resist but comment that “There what’s the moment where Meghan Markle seemed to- how can I put this politely- break wind.”

This comment was followed by canned laughter and the clip of Meghan’s interview with Oprah, discussing the time after her wedding to Prince Harry.

Clarkson did not stop and continued to mock the Duchess, “Sorry, can we just hear that again because it really does sound like Piers Morgan had a point, her pants were on fire…Now I’ve had a note here from the legal department at ITV. They want it to be made plain that that was not a fart. I have no idea how they know that…But they want me to make it clear that the fart noise probably came out of Oprah’s mouth.” He was then quick to shift from the topic to the Netflix hit show Bridgerton.

Fans outraged by the poor attempt at humour

Clarkson’s jokes did not land with the audience. His brutally honest opinions left viewers bitter as they were not impressed that he had to crack such poor jokes within minutes of his show. Even though he had mentioned that “Now, I should warn you from the outset from time-to-time things do get smutty and lavatorial, there’s no way around it.” It is still not an excuse to behave in such a way.

A viewer even took to Twitter to comment that, “The first thing Jeremy Clarkson does on his ITV show tonight is poked fun at Meghan Markle.” Others also commented on how insensitive it was for him to make those statements. Sum of even branded the program to be awful and rubbish while others could not even hear past the fake audience laughing to hear Jeremy’s jokes.

One viewer has gone even far as to mention that they would “… happily watch most rubbish on Saturday nights, but even I draw the line at #ClarksononTV.” Another one declared that “Bring back Tarrant on TV; this is awful to watch.”

Just watched Clarkson on TV, totally rubbish, uneducated, right-wing comedy with fake laughter,” mentioned another tweet.

Some people have mentioned that the show was brilliant and hilarious from the start. The show was on fire, and I hope for more episodes to be aired.
