Daniel Radcliffe is one of the most celebrated child actors in the industry. Even though he is often overlooked because of his role in Harry Potter, Radcliff is one of the industry’s best actors, as is proved by his performance in different kinds of roles in celebrated films.
His Career
Even though he’s trying to build a career trying to break the shackles created for playing the title character in the Harry Potter franchise, fans of the series cannot imagine anybody else other than him in the role.
The 31-year-old is doing his very best for the better part of the decade to challenge himself as an actor. To prove to his critics just like just Robert Pattinson or Edward Cullen of the Twilight Saga or Cedric Diggory for Harry Potter fans, Radcliffe has been acting in a variety of different roles.
He doesn’t want to be associated with just a young boy with a wand and magic spells. His efforts have been rewarded, and his fine acting skills have been seen in films like Guns Akimbo or the rom-com What if? He actively tries to build his image as a brilliant actor by saying away from high paid roles that try to bring a one-note character to his appearance.
Fan Followers
His efforts are working. However, fans of the series cannot accept anybody other than him in the shoes of Potter. He has taken this fact and even assured his fans that he is not ruling out the possibility of returning in the future.
Right now, the Harry Potter universe is focusing on its past by the Fantastic Beast series. However, this series will also come to an end quite fast, and we can only imagine the next movie to hit the big screen will be The Cursed Child. We all know that the Cursed child book revolves around the Potter family, and Radcliffe is open to the idea to return as Harry Potter as long as his one condition is met.
The Current News
According to our sources, Radcliffe will only make an appearance because JK Rowling is not involved in the project whatsoever. The author of the beloved book series has been going on a tirade making controversial statements against the LGBTQ+ community, especially Tran’s women. Being an ally, Radcliffe has made it clear that the studio has to pick between him and the creator.
We are all aware of whom the fans will rally for; after all, a large part of the LGBTQ+ community was fans of the books and are now deeply hurt and disgusted by the author’s bigoted comments.
On June 6, 2020, Rowling tweeted the controversial statement “people who menstruate” and stated, “If sex isn’t real, the lived reality of women globally is erased. I know and love trans people, but erasing the concept of sex removes the ability of many to discuss their lives meaningfully.”
Rowling’s inconsiderate tweets were criticized by GLAAD, who called them “Cruel” and “Anti-Trans.”
Many members of the Harry Potter cast criticized Rowling’s comments. They spoke out in support of trans women, including Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Bonnie Wright, and Katie Leung, and Fantastic Beasts lead actor Eddie Redmayne.
Radcliffe made it clear in a blog post,
“Transgender women are women. Any statement to the contrary erases the identity and dignity of transgender people and goes against all advice given by professional health care associations who have far more expertise on this subject matter than either Jo or I. According to The Trevor Project, 78% of transgender and nonbinary youth reported being discriminated against due to their gender identity. It’s clear that we need to do more to support transgender and nonbinary people, not invalidate their identities, and not cause further harm.”
He also added,
“I am still learning how to be a better ally, so if you want to join me in learning more about transgender and nonbinary identities, check out The Trevor Project’s Guide to Being an Ally to Transgender and Nonbinary Youth. It’s an introductory educational resource that covers a wide range of topics, including the differences between sex and gender, and shares best practices on how to support transgender and nonbinary people.”
